We are proud to be the fifth generation of Laus to be farming and ranching in the Five Mile Meadow just north of Soda Springs, Idaho. We love farming and ranching and are thrilled to be able to provide wholesome and tasty beef and lamb to so many families. We are moving increasingly toward management intensive grazing which benefits both the land and our animals. We try to utilize new methods of weed control, like biological control via thistle eating bugs, as well as some small scale spot spraying of weeds in our grazing fields. We work hard to be the best stewards of our land and animals that we can be. We thank you for examining our website. We hope it has given you some insight into our family and our farm. Please contact us if you have any questions. John, Lori Anne, Tommy and Becca Lau |

Lori Anne holding a neighbor’s lamb so it can be vaccinated. Our animals are vaccinated according to our vet’s recommendations to help ensure they remain healthy. This reduces the likelihood of them being dropped from our program because they required treatment with antibiotics. |

Tommy (then 4) and Rebecca (then 2) helping to release thistle eating bugs near Soda Creek. Utilizing these bugs reduces our dependence on chemical means of controlling thistles. |
| Tommy (then 6) and Rebecca (then 4) with our Border Collie, Jade. Jade is an important part of our team. He helps us move animals around the farm, and keeps an eye out for strangers. | |
| Snowball, our new Akbash-Great Pyrenees cross livestock guardian dog, is another crucial member of our team. He lives with the sheep year round and has greatly reduced our losses to preditors like coyotes and wandering dogs. This picture was taken this summer, he is even bigger now! (No wonder the coyotes decide to stick to rabbits and squirrels.) | |
We are proud our farm is recognized as an Idaho Century Farm and as a Bear River Heritage Business. To learn more about the Bear River Heritage Area go to: www.bearriverheritage.com or click here
